The 6U tall RHGS type of case can be used for panel cut-out mounting and for 19” rack mounting. An adaptation to surface mounting is also available. The beige colored RHGS cases are available in three different sizes for 6, 12 and 30 COMBIFLEX relay seats.

RHGS cases can be combined with mounting accessories to get maximum flexibility for different panel depths and mounting methods. The cases can also be mechanically combined together with the terminals in the 670 series for a common look and feel of the relay panel assembly. The cases are available with or without doors.

The case, a metal box with the non-sealed rear side, has a collar flange which provides a stop when the case is inserted into a front panel opening. Internally, the case is provided with a support frame. The frame has space for a 4U assembly at the top and 2U at the bottom. COMBIFLEX relays and other apparatus which shall be mounted in RHGS are mounted onto apparatus bars available in matching lengths. To use the full 6U height for COMBIFLEX relays three bars are needed.

The color of the case is beige, matching the 500 series. A spacer frame for semi-flush mounting is available. The case can be provided with a door.

Mounting of RHGS cases with 670 series products is described in document 1MRK 514 012-BEN. The RHGS cases can be mounted in a 19” frame in a cubicle. Different sizes can be mounted together side by side to utilize the width of the frame in the cubicle.

The RHGX type of casing can be used for switch-board panel cut-out mounting of COMBIFLEX modular relays and assemblies. If direct surface mounting is needed the RHGS cases can be used or the panel frames shown in the data sheet.

The beige colored RHGX cases are available in five different sizes for 4, 8, 12, 20 and 40 COMBIFLEX relay seats. RHGX cases can be combined with mounting accessories to get maximum flexibility for different panel depths and mounting methods. The cases have a front door with rubber seals for IP 50 protection.

The RHGX case is a metal box with a non-sealed rear. It has a collar flange providing a stop when the case is inserted into a front panel opening. The cases are held in place by four screw-clamps that attach to the sides and holds the case in place against the panel. Internally, the case is provided with a support frame.

The frame has space for 4U assemblies of width to match the number of mounting seats. The large RHGX 40 has space for two full 19” wide 4U assemblies with up to 40 relay seats. COMBIFLEX relays and other apparatus which shall be mounted in RHGS are mounted onto apparatus bars available in matching lengths.

The color of the case is beige, matching the other ABB relay product series. A spacer frame for semi-flush mounting is available.

The RHGX cases are not intended for mounting in 19” racks or cubicles. Different sizes can be mounted together side by side to utilize the width of the frame in the cubicle.

RTXE offers an easy-to-use method to house supplementary components to the COMBIFLEX relays. It is available in various variants with diodes, a diode bridge, resistors or a varistor embedded in plastic material together with the required connection leads.

The leads are 150 mm long with a cross-section of 0,5 mm 2 . The terminations are marked with numbers 51, 52 up to 56 and provided with 10 A COMBIFLEX sockets. This allows direct connection to the relay terminals via the terminal base used. This may be used for example to add a diode for drop out delay of an auxiliary relay.

Included are self-tapping fixing screws of type B2 x 9,5 for fitting the RTXE in the component pocket at the rear of RX 1, RX 2, RX 2H or RX 4 terminal bases. The RTXE when needed, thus requires no extra panel mounting space which makes it easy to add supplementary components to COMBIFLEX relays.

If there is a need for more than one RTXE for an application to modify the electrical characteristic of a relay, they can be connected to the same electrical point using RTXC branch connectors.

High-speed auxiliary relays can give unwanted operation during earth-faults in DC battery systems. The reason for operation is that the capacitance to earth will discharge through the relay due to the ground-fault, giving rise to a voltage across the relay. To avoid that risk, a control unit - type RTXV - may be connected in series with the terminal of the relay coil.

RTXV protects against misoperation of auxiliary relays due to voltage transients and other surges, and is intended for trip relays or any critical auxiliary function requiring pick-up voltage control.

RXTUG 22H is used for auxiliary voltage supply of electronic relay circuits. It is suitable for use where up to 15 W continuous output power is required, e.g. for the supply of protective relays or other automation equipment.

The RXTUG 22 can be powered from any dc voltage source 24 V to 250 V. When redundant power supplies are needed, parallel operated RXTUG 22H may be used with isolating diodes e.g. RTXE.

The RXT unit is available with resistors (fixed and variable), potentiometers, capacitors, diodes and rectifiers. It contains a ready wired component plate onto which component are soldered. The unit can contain up to 8 individual components.

Because of heat build-up, total loading should not exceed 2,5 W continuously, nor should individual resistors be loaded with more than 30 % of rating. The unit occupies one seat (2U 6C) and should be mounted on a terminal base, type RX4 or RX2H. 

The RXT plug-in unit offers a convenient way of including resistors, capacitors or diodes in a protection circuit. Due to it's modular construction, the unit can be easily mounted along with other COMBIFLEX relays or protection assemblies.

An adapter for DIN-rail screw terminal bars is used to mount COMBIFLEX-relays inside the relay cubicle directly onto the screw terminal bars. The bases for terminal bars comprise one RX terminal base, available in four sizes, plus a mounting arrangement consisting of one steel adapter mounting bracket, two, three, or four plastic clamp-fit holders and screws.

Connections are normally made directly to the terminal bases via COMBIFLEX-connections. The adapter can be used without the plastic holders for direct surface mounting on to, e.g. a concrete wall or another surface.

The RXZ adapter variants are as follows:

Auxiliary current transformers are used in protective relaying circuits for a multitude of applications. They are often used to adjust the secondary current to the proper level for the relay using one primary auxiliary CT input winding and one secondary winding feeding the relay. Auxiliary CT's can also be used to feed a single phase relay with the vector sum of three phase to neutral currents from main CT's. Generally any two or more AC currents can thus be summed and transformed to one secondary current via auxiliary CT's for many different relaying and measuring applications.

The auxiliary CT provides isolation between primary and secondary current circuits. This feature can be used to increase the insulation level between current circuits. The standard insulation level for the SLCE and SLXE auxiliary CT's is factory tested at 2,5 kV for 1 minute between windings and also between windings and ground.

With the RADHL pilot-wire differential relay, a version of the SLCE 8 auxiliary CT with 15 kV insulation is available for the pilot wires. Another version of the SLCE 8 is used with RADHL as a three-phase summation CT. The dimensions of the SLCE 8 can be found in the data sheet for RADHL.

Multi-tapped SLCE 12 auxiliary CT's are available to match CT ratios for example for the RADSB or other transformer differential relays. SLCE 16 and SLXE 4 are larger and used when more iron is needed to handle the relay circuit load.

The shown standardized winding versions of the auxiliary CT's have been tested for use with certain products such as the RADSB, RADSC and RADSS and REB 100 series of transformer and bus differential relays.

On request, auxiliary CT's can be obtained with other ratios or specified characteristics.

The RXTUB 2 unit is used for supplying relays with required auxiliary DC voltage. The latest COMBIFLEX microprocessor relays use about 3 W of +- 24 V DC.

RXTUB 2 provides an alternative to the RXTUG 22H DC/DC converter when only an AC source is available or otherwise where the 5 kV insulation level is required.

RXTUB 2H consists of a transformer, a rectifier and smoothing circuits. It can be connected to input voltages 100, 110, 120 or 220 V AC, 50 and 60 Hz via the different input terminals to taps of the transformer. The unit is available in three variants, for output voltages +-12, +-18 and +-24 V. The inputs and outputs are galvanically separated.
